Good evening, Roadrunner Families!
Today, we celebrated our first pep rally of the year! While the pep rally was a great experience, our bus dismissal afterward did not go as smoothly as we had hoped.
As students exited, we experienced a significant bottleneck at the doors. Despite repeated adult redirection, students continued pushing, shoving, and attempting to cut in front of one another. We were eventually able to stop the crowd, redirect students, and establish a safer flow, but it was far more difficult than it should have been.
I can promise you one thing: We will NOT dismiss students this way again. We recognize that our dismissal procedures contributed to the situation, and we are already working on a revised plan. We will share those changes in this weekend’s Roadrunner Revue.
However, I also need your help. Please have a conversation with your student about listening to adults, following directions the first time, and respecting personal space. Pushing, shoving, and cutting in line only make an already crowded situation more dangerous.
One of the simplest expectations we can reinforce is this: There is never a reason at school to be in someone else’s personal bubble. Keep your hands to yourself, give others space, and move when and where adults direct you.
We will absolutely take responsibility for improving our procedures, but our students must also take responsibility for their choices. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we need everyone doing their part.
On a positive note, it was wonderful to see so much Roadrunner spirit across campus today! Students and adults alike had a great time celebrating together, and we still managed to get some learning done along the way! Days like today remind us how much fun school can be when we come together as a campus community.

The KISD Tutoring Center now offers FREE tutoring in Math, Reading and Writing! Students in grades 4–12 can get help with homework, STAAR and EOC preparation, and challenging concepts from state-certified teachers. We are putting the finishing touches on this week's Roadrunner Revue! It is taking a little longer than usual as we work to clearly communicate several adjustments to our campus systems for the second nine weeks.

📚 NO TUTORIALS THIS WEEK
No after-school tutorials October 20–23.
We are strengthening our tutorial process for the new grading period.
Updated information is coming in the Roadrunner Revue.
🚪 DISMISSAL: 3:37 PM vs. 3:45 PM
3:37 PM = Leaving campus for the day.
Students staying for practices, games, clubs, or other approved activities MUST remain in class until 3:45 PM.
Students who leave at 3:37 will NOT be permitted to return to class or stay after school.
This is an established expectation, communicated daily. There are no exceptions.
🥪 STUDENT LUNCHES
Lunch must be from the cafeteria or brought from home in a lunchbox.
Forgotten lunches delivered by parents must be in a lunchbox meeting clear-bag size requirements.
NO DoorDash, Uber Eats, or other third-party food deliveries are accepted for students.
